Who is Benny?

Abraham (Benny) Z.

If I were to choose a piece of music to represent me accurately, I would select the first of Claude Debussy's two Arabesques ("Deux Arabesque", 1888 - 1891). It is my favorite piano piece composed by my favorite pianist. As an impressionistic piece of music, it aims to convey a "free-flowing" melody, comparative to the way I strive to appreciate life. The chords that complete this score are disjointed so that each key is audible on its own. This represents me well because there are so many interests in my life, and I love to pursue each of them as best as I can. Whether it's playing piano, going to the gym, reading fiction novels, or listening to music, I enjoy giving each passion in my life the attention and focus it deserves.

I hope this quality will remain with me as I pursue my future goals in higher education and beyond. My love for music and piano stemmed from childhood memories of my dad playing the instrument with me on his lap, all the way to my 15th birthday when my parents bought me a brand-new piano. Since that day, I've been teaching myself how to play, and my love for music has grown exponentially.
